How to Create an Invoice in Slash

This article explains how to send an invoice to a customer using your Slash account.

Slash lets you create and send professional invoices directly from your dashboard. When you send an invoice, your customer gets an email with a PDF copy and a link to pay securely online.

How to Create an Invoice

Step 1: Start a New Invoice

  1. Go to the Invoicing page in the left sidebar of your dashboard.
  2. Click New Invoice in the top right corner.
  3. You will be taken through a step-by-step form to build your invoice.

Step 2: Select or Add a Customer

  1. Use the search bar to find an existing customer.
  2. If the customer is not in the list yet, click Add New Customer and enter their name, email, and nickname. You can also add their address.
  3. Once saved, click Select Customer to continue.

Step 3: Add Invoice Details

  1. Each invoice gets an automatic ID number — you can change it if you want.
  2. For each item or service, enter:
    • Item name
    • Quantity
    • Unit price
  3. You can also add a discount (fixed amount or percentage) and a sales tax percentage.
  4. A preview of your invoice will update on the right side of the screen as you fill it in.

Step 4: Set Payment Details

  1. Set the Issue Date (today by default) and the Due Date.
  2. Choose which Slash account should receive the payment.
  3. Add an optional memo if you want to include payment terms or any notes.
  4. Click Continue to Review.

Step 5: Review and Send

  1. Check the full preview of your invoice — this is exactly what your customer will see.
  2. If anything looks wrong, click Back to make changes.
  3. When everything looks good, click Create Invoice. Your customer will receive an email with the invoice PDF and a payment link.

After You Send the Invoice

  • Your invoice will appear in your Invoicing dashboard.
  • You can track the status of every invoice: Paid, Unpaid, Overdue, or Void.
  • You can also share the invoice link directly with your customer.
