# How long does it take to form a company?
There are a few steps required to form your company.
1\. **State Formation** - We form your company in the state of your choice. This process takes up to 1-2 weeks.
2\. **EIN Number** - Once your company is formed, we start working on your Employer Identification Number.
Note: A U.S. Social Security Number (SSN) is **not required** to obtain an EIN, however, if you have one, it greatly expedites the process.
**Timeline (with SSN):** A few days
**Timeline (without SSN)**: 4 - 6 weeks on average
