How long does company formation take and when will I get my EIN?
Many fintech banks have compliance limits based on country risk , sanctions screening, business type, and fraud prevention policies. If your country is unsupported, the application may be blocked even with valid documents. This is a bank policy issue, not a problem with your LLC. Your best path is to try banks that support your geography (often traditional banks in-person ) or fintechs with broader international coverage.
There are a few reasons why EIN and LLC applications can take significantly longer than the “few weeks” you were initially told, and most delays come from government processing timelines outside of your provider’s control.
1. IRS Delays for EINs
The IRS continues to face staffing shortages, high application volume, and seasonal backlogs. Applications that require manual review—such as those for foreign-owned LLCs or entities with complex structures—can take several weeks or even months. Any missing or unclear information also triggers manual processing.
2. State-Level Delays for LLC Formation
Each state processes LLC filings at different speeds. Some states handle them within days, while others take weeks due to increased business registrations, staffing limitations, or system upgrades. Processing times often spike during year-end and tax season.
3. Additional Verification Requirements
If the IRS or state needs extra documentation (name verification, address confirmation, registered agent updates, etc.), your application is paused until those issues are resolved.
4. Estimates Are Based on Typical Timelines
The initial estimate reflects standard processing times, but actual timelines can change depending on government backlogs. This can extend processing beyond the originally expected window.
5. Foreign Ownership or Non-Standard Structures
If your LLC has non-U.S. members or requires special tax classification, the IRS must review the application manually, which is one of the most common causes of extended delays.

the company apply for their EIN as soon as the company receive their company formation documents from the State. The timeframe to get the EIN varies depending on the method of application.
There are a few steps required to form their company. 1. State Formation - the company form their company in the state of their choice. This process takes up to 1-2 weeks. 2. EIN Number - Once their company is formed, the company start working on their Employer Identification Number. Note: A U.S.
Every year, from late December through early January, the IRS temporarily slows down operations to audit their records and improve internal processes. During this period, they also update their systems to prepare for the upcoming tax season.
If you have a US SSN, you can get an EIN from the IRS in about a week. For non-US residents without an SSN, the process takes 8–10 weeks as it requires manual IRS processing. doola can handle the entire EIN application for you.
Formation timing depends on the state. Typical ranges are 3-15 business days for many states, though it can take longer during peak periods or if the state is backlogged. Some states offer expedited filing options for faster processing. Your company is officially formed once the state approves and issues formation confirmation (such as the Articles or Certificate of Organization).
Typical support response is 1-2 business days (can be longer during peak filing season). If you haven’t heard back after a week: reply to the same ticket with “following up,” include your company name and the specific ask, and add any screenshots/documents to reduce back-and-forth. If the issue is time-sensitive (deadline/banking), clearly label it “urgent” with the due date.
