Mercury vs Relay: differences, eligibility requirements, and physical card shipping limits
With your doola setup, here’s how things work:
1. Formation & Registered Agent Address:
◦ doola can form your U.S. company and provide a Registered Agent (RA) address. This address is used for legal and official mail purposes.
2. Bank Account Integration:
◦ doola supports Mercury onboarding for international founders, with Slash as an alternative. doola helps provide the necessary company and RA info for the application.
3. Physical Cards:
◦ Mercury can issue physical debit cards, and international orders may include standard or express shipping.
4. Using the RA Address for Banking:
◦ Mercury requires a U.S. business address. In many cases, your RA address can be used for onboarding, but banks may request additional proof of address for certain services (e.g., card shipping or wire transfers). This is standard KYC/AML compliance.
Mercury, Slash, and Relay all offer U.S. business banking, but they differ on country restrictions, account features, and eligibility requirements. doola recommends Mercury first, with Slash and then Relay as alternatives. doola guides founders on the differences, but you must meet bank-specific criteria. International shipping of physical cards is limited.
