Can a non-US founder open a Shopify store without a US address, and what’s needed for Shopify Payments?
You can run your Shopify store with PayPal and/or Stripe and skip Shopify Payments. In that case, no ITIN and no US/Virtual Address are required to operate the store. Only consider a US/Virtual Address (and ITIN if you’re a non-US individual/sole prop) if you later choose Shopify Payments.
Yes—you can open and run a Shopify store without a US address. If you also want Shopify Payments, Shopify requires a verifiable US business address (your Registered Agent (RA) is not valid) and payouts to a US bank. For non-US individuals registering as sole proprietors, an ITIN is required; if you formed an LLC/Corp, EIN + ID is sufficient (no ITIN). Use PayPal/Stripe if you don’t want Shopify Payments.
